Military History & Organisation Software

CTG Games Limited makes tools, applications and games concerned with military history and the way armed forces are organised — symbology, orders of battle, and the presentation of historical operations.

Much of the work is open source, and what is finished is free to use. It is built at its own pace, without a roadmap or a release schedule.

Available now

JMSFX Icon Generator

Compose military symbols to the NATO APP-6 Edition E standard and export them as SVG or PNG. It runs in the browser, and the library behind it is open source.

foxglove

A JavaFX library for rendering SVG, which does the drawing behind the symbology work. Open source, and useful on its own if you need vector graphics in a JavaFX application.

In progress

hallux

Tools for building, browsing and maintaining orders of battle — tables of organisation and equipment, unit inventories, and a gazetteer of the places they occupy.

Further off

Two older projects may yet be revived: Marshal of the Empire®, a real-time strategy game for refighting battles of the musket era, and mahere, which animates maps to illustrate how a campaign unfolded.
